In honour of Princess Anne's milestone 75th birthday today, Buckingham Palace have shared another surprise picture of the royal. The new picture shows Anne - who was born on August 15, 1950 - dressed in a red buttoned dress and leaning against a wooden post in what appears to be the gardens at her Gatcombe Park home.
The picture was taken by celebrated photographer John Swannell. Her hair is styled in her signature bouffant and she has a pop of colour on her lips. The message alongside the picture reads: "[party-popper emoji] 75 today! Thank you for all of your kind birthday wishes for The Princess this week."
On Thursday evening, a first picture was shared of the royal - also taken by John Swannell at Anne's home - to mark her special day today.
Dressed in a royal blue dress, the King's sister playfully smiles at the camera as she stands against an exterior wall of her Gatcombe Park home.
Taken last month, the royal appears relaxed as she tenderly places one hand on a windowsill in the new image.
Anne will reportedly mark her milestone birthday privately and is understood to have plans to sail around the Western Isles of Scotland with her husband, Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence.
The couple will not attend any events to mark VJ Day today. The Prince and Princess of Wales will also not be in attendance.
Known frequently as the hardest-working royal, Anne undertakes an impressive number of engagements each year.
Anne previously requested that her birthday be focused on her charities rather than herself.
In honour of her request, Anne hosted a special forum for them at Buckingham Palace in June.
