An expert has revealed when exactly British households should book their boiler service. Brits are advised to get their boilers serviced at least once per year to make sure everything is working properly and safely. Boilers will be put to work in the coming weeks as temperatures dip in the UK. This comes after a record-hot summer, during which boilers became somewhat redundant for many households as they struggled to stay cool during the multiple heatwaves we experienced this year.

However, cold snaps are expected sooner than many people think, meaning heating systems will be put to work very soon. So, when should you get your boiler serviced? Many households do it at the same time every year. However, an expert has revealed exactly when you should be booking your annual boiler service. After Ofgem announced that it will raise the energy price cap by £35, home energy expert Simon Wardle at Armstrong Supplies, revealed ways that British households can save money.

He revealed that too many people leave their boiler service until later in the year, when it is busier. He explained: "Too many people wait until December, when boilers start breaking down and engineers are all booked up.

"Getting this done in September will make the service cheaper, prevent emergency callouts, and ensure your system runs efficiently from the first cold snap."

Simon adds: "With bills about to rise again, families need practical, low-cost hacks they can do right now. None of these require major investment, but together they can shave hundreds of pounds off energy costs and make your home much warmer and more comfortable this winter."

The average household will expect to pay £1,755 a year in energy bills following Ofgem's announcement. Experts have been sharing their advice to reduce this number, revealing inventive ways to slash energy bills coming up to Autumn and Winter.

The Energy Saving Trust revealed that "investing in heating controls is the best option for optimising your central heating system". They explained: "Many homes already have a programmer, room thermostat and thermostatic radiator valves (TRVs).

"If your home doesn't have these, installing them could save you about £95 annually on your energy bills. If you already have a programmer and thermostat, adding TRVs could save you £30 annually."
