Controversy Surrounds Hit Song 'Raanjhan'
Sachet and Parampara Tandon, a renowned music composer duo and couple, are currently embroiled in controversy regarding their popular track 'Raanjhan', featured in Kriti Sanon's Netflix film 'Do Patti'. The song has topped charts since its release, but it has faced accusations of plagiarism from international music producer KMKZ.
In response to these allegations, the Tandon duo has expressed their intent to pursue legal action. They stated, "The claims made by the individual asserting they composed the music for 'Raanjhan' are entirely unfounded and seem aimed at creating controversy for publicity. After consulting with my legal team, I have issued a defamation notice and we are ready to take stringent legal measures to counter this malicious attempt to undermine our work. We have already submitted the original session files and piano scores to platforms like YouTube and Spotify, which have confirmed our authorship and dismissed any other copyright claims."
For those unfamiliar, KMKZ shared a video on Instagram alleging that Sachet and Parampara had copied his beat, which he had uploaded two years prior. He remarked, "I produced the number one song in India without even being aware of it. I am a music producer who sells beats online under the name KMKZ. I posted this beat around two years ago, and recently, someone informed me that they recognized the piano from my beat in a new song without any credit given to me."
He further noted, "The song has amassed 290 million streams on Spotify, and the credits indicate it is from T-Series. I reached out via email to the artist and various contacts at T-Series but received no response. It feels like they took my beat from YouTube without contacting or compensating me, and now they have a number one hit on the Indian Billboard."
As of now, KMKZ has not publicly responded to the statements made by Sachet and Parampara.
