New Delhi. DGCA has cut the flights of Indigo Airlines by 5 percent while wielding the hammer. Indigo had created a big crisis in the past. Thousands of Indigo flights were cancelled. Due to which the passengers faced a lot of problems. DGCA has said in the order that IndiGo should reduce 115 flights in its high frequency and high demand sectors including other sectors. Apart from this, IndiGo will not be able to run single flights in any sector. Earlier, quoting sources, it was reported that if the situation is not improved, IndiGo’s flights can be reduced by 5 percent and other airlines can be given a chance in that sector. At present, 5 percent of IndiGo’s flights which have been reduced will be given to other airlines.

Earlier, Indigo had given a vague reply to the DGCA notice. DGCA was told on behalf of Indigo Airlines that the airline is extremely helpless and a victim of circumstances. Indigo had blamed many reasons for the flight crisis. IndiGo has told DGCA that such situations occurred due to minor technical glitches, changes to implement winter schedule, bad weather, high number of passengers and new Crew Duty Time Limitation i.e. FDTL. IndiGo also says that the scale of its operation is very large and it is not possible to identify the exact cause in a short time. The airlines have responded by citing the DGCA manual and said that they should be given 15 days to respond.

According to the information, DGCA is now going to see whether IndiGo has drivers and cabin crew members in proportion to the number of aircraft or not. Action may also be taken against IndiGo CEO Peter Elbers and COO Isidre Porcaras. Earlier, a letter purporting to be from an Indigo pilot had gone viral on social media. In which serious allegations were made against all Indigo officers including Albers and Porcaras. Besides, it was also written in the letter that the management in Indigo behaves very badly with the staff. In the letter, the blame for the crisis was placed on Indigo itself and strict action and penalty was demanded from the government.
