On Saturday, Shubman Gill, the captain of the Gujarat Titans, faced a fine of Rs 12 lakh due to his team's slow over-rate during their IPL match where they triumphed over the Delhi Capitals by seven wickets.
Thanks to an outstanding performance by Jos Buttler, who scored an unbeaten 97 despite dealing with cramps, the Titans successfully chased down a target of 204 runs with just four balls remaining.
According to a statement from the IPL, Gill's fine was imposed as this was the first infraction for his team this season under Article 2.22 of the IPL Code of Conduct, which addresses minimum over-rate violations.
Prior to this, the Gujarat Titans' bowlers, spearheaded by the impressive Prasidh Krishna, who took 4 wickets for 41 runs, executed a disciplined bowling performance that restricted the Delhi Capitals to a modest total of 203 runs for eight wickets.
