Mumbai: As per Hindu beliefs, no auspicious work begins without invoking the blessings of Lord Ganesha, the remover of obstacles. His worship is considered essential for success and prosperity, especially on the sacred tithi of Chaturthi which occurs twice a month—during both the Shukla (waxing) and Krishna (waning) phases of the Moon.
The Shukla Paksha Chaturthi is known as Vinayak Chaturthi, while the Krishna Paksha Chaturthi is observed as Sankashti Chaturthi. In 2025, the Vinayak Chaturthi during the Vaishakh month will be celebrated on 1 May. This day holds great spiritual significance, and devotees observe fasts and offer prayers to Lord Ganesha, believing that such acts will remove all hindrances from their lives.
According to the Vedic Panchang, the Chaturthi tithi of Vaishakh Shukla Paksha begins on 30 April 2025 at 2:12 PM and ends on 1 May 2025 at 11:23 AM. Therefore, the Vinayak Chaturthi fast and puja will be observed on 1 May 2025.
Vaishakh Vinayak Chaturthi is considered highly auspicious for overcoming financial difficulties. On this day, devotees are advised to recite the Rinharta Ganesh Stotra during the puja to seek relief from debts and monetary stress. It is believed that worshipping Ganpati Bappa with sincerity on this day brings peace, prosperity, and fulfilment of wishes.
