To be successful in the UP Board 10th Exam 2025, students have to get a minimum of 33% marks in each subject. These marks have been set separately for both theory and practical exams. In the theory exam, students have to get at least 23 marks out of 70, while in the practical exam, this mark has been fixed at 10 out of 30. Thus, it will be mandatory for students to obtain minimum marks in each subject so that they can pass the exam.

Grading System

The UP Board uses a grading system (A1 being the highest and E2 being the lowest) to evaluate the performance of students in each subject.

A1: 91 –100
A2: 81-90
B1: 71 –80
B2: 61 –70
C1: 51 – 60
C2: 41 –50
D: 33 – 40
E1: 21 – 32
E2: Less than 21

Compartment Exam and Re-Exam Status
If a student fails in two subjects, he/she will get an opportunity to appear for the compartment exam. This exam gives students another chance to improve their marks obtained in their previous exam.

However, if the student fails in three or more subjects, he or she will have to re-appear for those subjects in the next academic year. Such students will have to wait for another year to improve their results.
