Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan have been included in the annual player retainership for the 2024-25 season, announced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India on Monday (April 21).
Both the batsmen lost their contracts last season after they reportedly refused to play in domestic cricket. Before losing their contracts, Iyer was in Grade B while Kishan was part of Grade C.

Kishan has not played for Team India after the omission, but has still earned a Grade C contract. On the other hand, Iyer has been handed a Grade B contract.
Iyer has been a regular in India's ODI team. Earlier this year, the right-handed batsman starred with the bat in India's triumphant campaign at the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. He finished the tournament as the second-highest run-scorer, scoring 243 runs in 5 games at an average of almost 50.
BCCI's annual player retainership 2024-25:
The top category, Grade A+, remains the same for the year with ODI and Test captain Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, and Ravindra Jadeja as the top earners. Even though Rohit, Jadeja, and Kohli have retired from T20Is, the BCCI has decided to give them the top contract.
On the other hand, India's T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav has a Grade B contract. While Suryakumar is leading the T20I team, he is not a part of India's Test and ODI teams at present.
Mohammed Siraj, KL Rahul, Shubman Gill, Hardik Pandya, Mohammed Shami, and Rishabh Pant have earned Grade A contracts. Suryakumar, Iyer, Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, and Yashasvi Jaiswal have Grade B contracts. The BCCI has handed Grade C contracts to as many as 19 players.
