BBC Breakfast took a chaotic turn when an excitable dog left the hosts speechless live on-air. During Wednesday's (April 23) edition of the hit morning programme, hosts and Roger Johnson were on the red sofa to bring viewers the latest news from the UK and around the world.
They were joined in the studio by John Watson, who presented the sports news, and , who provided regular weather updates. Ben Boulos was also on hand to deliver the latest business news.
Talk soon turned to the use of therapy dogs in schools, with Sally and Roger discussing the need for pupils and pets to be trained to ensure that people continue to feel the benefits of support animals.
After watching a report on the topic, the hosts spoke to Dr Helen Lewis, Associate Professor of Education in the Department of Education and Early Childhood Studies at Swansea University.
She was joined by dogs Carlo and Obie, who had undergone intense temperament assessments before meeting schoolchildren. Carlo has been going into schools for six years; however, Obie hasn't been trained yet.
"So, this morning could be quite interesting... So far, so good," Helen joked.
After discussing the importance of care animals, Helen noticed that Carlo was intently looking at Roger, saying: "He's got his eye on you, Roger."
"I was warned before you came in that he likes nibbling men's ears, so I've been sitting here slightly anxiously, but he's been incredibly well behaved," Roger noted.
"Slightly disappointed he hasn't," Sally then quipped, before Roger began to wrap up the interview.
However, Carlo wasn't keen on leaving the sofa without an embrace. He quickly edged closer to Roger, before frantically nibbling his ear.
"Oh, here he comes," the host said, adding: "Yes, yes, there you go. In you go. Yeah, you can nibble my ear."
A shocked Sally looked away in horror as Roger continued: "Oh gosh, oh dear. Right, let's get the news and travel where you are this morning. I'm getting eaten!"
