Bhubaneswar: Highlighting the essential connection between animal health, environmental sustainability, and human welfare, Suresh Kumar Vashishth, Principal Secretary of the Fisheries and Animal Resources Development (F&ARD) department, stated that the concept of 'One Planet, One Health' is crucial today.
Vashishth addressed attendees as the chief guest during the state-level observance of World Veterinary Day 2025 at the Lok Seva Bhawan Convention Hall on Saturday. He underscored the vital function veterinarians play in fostering sustainable practices and protecting biodiversity, urging a united effort to enhance animal healthcare systems.
Vijay Amruta Kulange, Director of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services, introduced various government initiatives aimed at assisting livestock farmers.
The event saw participation from over 300 farmers from across Odisha, who engaged with experts and explored new programs.
A workshop focusing on the Mukhyamantri Kamdhenu Yojana (MKY) and the Rashtriya Gokul Mission (RGM) was led by Rajeev Sharma, with Bismita Nandi and Satyaprakash Mohapatra acting as rapporteurs. Senior officials, including Antaryami Khuntia, Swapnananda Mohapatra, Biswaranjan Tripathy, Hadibandhu Bhoi, and Mihir Kumar Nayak, contributed to the discussions.
Following this, a technical seminar titled 'Livestock Farmers, Civil Society, and Veterinarians: A Team Approach in Animal Health' was conducted, moderated by Samapika Mohapatra. Notable speakers such as Rabindra Mohan Maharatha, Sanat Mishra, Kumaresh Behera, Biswanath Sahoo, and Subrat Prusty shared their expertise.
