New Delhi: People planning for any banking activities in May 2025 should check the state-wise holiday list of banks. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) releases a region-wise bank holiday lists for every month. There will be no national holiday in the upcoming month.

It may be noted that all banks will observe public holidays on the second and fourth Saturdays. The RBI list mentions that banks will be closed in different areas of the country fro Maharashtra Din/May Day (Labor Day), Birthday of Rabindranath Tagore, Buddha Purnima, State Day (Sikkim), Birthday of Kazi Nazrul Islam, and Maharana Pratap Jayanti.

May 1

Banks will observe a holiday in Maharashtra on the occasion of Maharashtra Day. Banks will also remain closed in several states, including West Bengal, Assam, Goa, Bihar, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, Manipur, and Kerala, on account of Labour Day.

May 9

Banks will remain closed across West Bengal on May 9, 2025 to celebrate Rabindranath Tagore Jayanti.

May 12

Banks will remain closed in Maharashtra, New Delhi, Tripura, Mizoram, Himachal Pradesh, Srinagar, Madhya Pradesh, Jammu, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Uttarakhand, and Arunachal Pradesh on May 12, 2025 for Buddha Purnima.

May 16

Banks will observe a holiday in Sikkim on May 16, 2025 on account of Sikkim State Day.

May 26

Birth anniversary of Kazi Nazrul Islam will be celebrated in Tripura on May 26, 2025 to honour the birthday of Kazi Nazrul Islam.

May 29

Banks will be closed in in Himachal Pradesh on May 29, 2025 to celebrate Maharana Pratap Jayanti

On bank holidays, services like cheque clearances, fund transfers via NEFT/RTGS, and loan processing or approvals get affected. However, bank customers can opt for ATMs, online banking, and mobile banking services to perform some of the bankings tasks which do not require physical banking or documentation process.
