Marvel Studios' latest superhero offering, Thunderbolts , is set to make a thunderous debut at the global box office.
The film, which has already garnered strong critical acclaim, is projected to earn over $175 million worldwide in its opening weekend, according to a report by Deadline.
In the US alone, Thunderbolts is expected to rake in between $70 million and $75 million, with international markets contributing an additional $90 million to $100 million. The film’s North American presales have already crossed $12 million, putting it on par with previous MCU debuts like Eternals ($71.2 million) and ahead of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings ($75.3 million).
However, it trails behind this year's Captain America: Brave New World, which opened to $88.8 million in presales.
The film currently holds a near-90% critics' score on Rotten Tomatoes, making it one of the highest-rated titles in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in recent years, a stark contrast to some of the franchise's recent releases, including Captain America: Brave New World (48%), Eternals (47%), and The Marvels (62%).
Directed by Jake Schreier , Thunderbolts features an ensemble cast including Florence Pugh , Sebastian Stan, Wyatt Russell, Olga Kurylenko, Lewis Pullman, Geraldine Viswanathan, Chris Bauer, Wendell Pierce , with David Harbour, with Hannah John-Kamen, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus.
Thunderbolts is expected to inject fresh momentum into the MCU and could emerge as one of the franchise's biggest post-Endgame successes. The film opens worldwide this weekend.
