The Delhi Development Authority intends to build bike lanes and walkways to link all of the parks, both current and planned, on the Yamuna floodplain. During a discussion with DDA officials about the Yamuna riverside project, Public Works Department Minister Parvesh Verma addressed connecting all parks and public areas for the comfort of tourists.

“The DDA has now created a number of large parks on the floodplain, including Bansera and Asita, and several additional projects are in the works. However, they have nothing to do with one another. According to PTI sources, Verma said, “The idea is that once visitors enter from one end, for example, Asita at ITO, they can access other parks on the floodplain.”

Over the last two years, the DDA has constructed parks, cafes, and other public facilities along a 22-kilometer section of the Yamuna floodplain that runs from the Wazirabad barrage to the Okhla barrage.

Asita East and West, Baansera Park, Vasudev Ghat, Amrut Biodiversity Park, and Yamuna Vatika in the floodplain region are among the projects that the DDA has created.

According to officials, the major Yamuna Riverfront project at Sarai Kale Khan and the development of Mayur Nature Park in the Mayur Vihar region are both now under progress.

Verma has given DDA representatives instructions to create a plan for building bike lanes and walkways to link the recently created parks.

“As per the guidelines, construction is not allowed on the Yamuna floodplain, so we are figuring out a way of making walkways and cycle tracks that do not violate the rules, but still the goal is achieved,” Verma added.

The preparation of a project report has been requested by the DDA authorities.
