n a landmark move to accelerate EV adoption, the Maharashtra cabinet has approved the Electric Vehicle Policy 2025which brings with it financial incentives, toll waivers, and robust infrastructure development—aimed at transforming the state into a clean mobility leader.

The policy is backed by a ₹1,993 crore commitment and will remain in effect till 2030.

Toll-Free Travel on Key Highways for EVs

One of the biggest highlights of the policy is toll exemption for certain electric vehicles:

  • 100% toll waiver on Mumbai-Pune Expressway, Samruddhi mahamargand attu for four-wheeler EVs and electric buses.
  • On other state and national highwaysEVs will pay only 50% of the standard toll fee.

This move not only incentivizes EV adoption but also significantly reduces the cost of long-distance electric travel across Maharashtra.

Up to 15% Subsidy on Electric Cargo Vehicles

In an effort to push clean logistics and last-mile delivery, the government is offering:

  • 10% subsidy on electric two-, three-, and four-wheelersas well as electric buses.
  • 15% subsidy for electric cargo vehiclesincluding 3W, 4W, and tractors—making it easier for fleet operators and commercial players to switch to EVs.

Additionally, registration fees for EVs will be waivedfurther reducing the upfront cost.

Charging Every 25 KM: No More Range Anxiety

To address a key barrier to EV adoption—range anxiety—the policy mandates:

  • Charging stations every 25 kilometers on national highways.
  • Focus on expanding both public and private charging infrastructure across cities and rural areas.

Clean Mobility Transition Model

Maharashtra also announced a Clean Mobility Transition Modelextending purchase incentives and infrastructure support till 2030. EV manufacturing is expected to see a major push under this plan, positioning Maharashtra as a hub for green mobility innovation.
