Ajay Devgan's 'Raid' was well-liked by the audience. This film was based on the real-life income tax raid conducted by the Income Tax Department officials on Sardar Inder Singh in the 1980s, which was different from others as the longest raid in Indian history. This film captured the box office as soon as it was released. After the success of this film, the makers made its sequel 'Raid 2'. While 'Raid' was based on true events, the story of 'Red 2' is fictional.
While watching 'Raid 2', the memories of 'Raid' will be refreshed, but 'Raid 2' will not have the same power that was seen in 'Raid', the reason behind this can also be that 'Raid' was based on true events and 'Raid' is a fictional story. The makers failed here, they thought that in the name of 'Raid' they would win the hearts of the audience with 'Raid 2' as well, but it seems weaker than its first part.
The story of the film is weak, where you already know everything and you don't have to think much. There is hardly any scene in the film that surprises you. In the film, Ajay Devgn is seen in his old character, who is IRS Deputy Commissioner of Income Tax Amay Patnaik, while Ritesh Deshmukh is seen as Dada Manoharbhai, Vaani Kapoor as Malini Patnaik, Rajat Kapoor Kaul (Chief Income Tax Commissioner), Saurabh Shukla as Rameshwar Singh/Ramji/Tauji, Supriya Pathak as Amma (Dada Manoharbhai's mother) and Amit Sial as Lallan Sudhir (Amay's associate).
In the film, Amay goes to raid Dada Bhai's house and gets what he wants. Since Dada Bhai is a powerful minister, the department suspends Amay. After this, Amay's game begins. He uses his brain and makes Dada Bhai's life difficult while he is suspended. Does Amay manage to foil Dada Bhai's plans? Does Amay get his job back? These are some questions, for the answers to which you will have to go to the cinema and watch the entire film yourself.
If we talk about acting, Ritesh Deshmukh has played an amazing negative role. His role in the film is the soul of the story. He has molded himself in the character of Dada Bhai in such a way that you will not be able to stop praising him. After Bobby Deol, Sanjay Dutt, and Randeep Hooda, now Ritesh has also proved that he can win people's hearts not only in heroism but also in Dadagiri. However, this is not the first time that Ritesh has appeared in a negative role, even before this he has made his place in the hearts of the audience with his villain avatar in many films.
On the other hand, Ajay Devgan looked a bit dull this time. He has been seen with the same kind of expression throughout the film, while the energy that was seen in his character in 'Raid' is missing in 'Raid 2'. Why was Vaani Kapoor taken in this film? This is beyond understanding. His screen space in the film is less and dialogues are also given in very few places. How can anyone forget the character of Tauji played by Saurabh Shukla? After his memorable performance in the original, Tauji is back in 'Raid 2', but this time he has become a silent spectator like the audience. He only watches the antics of Amay Patnaik and the downfall of Dada Bhai's empire.
After 'Raid', the responsibility of directing 'Raid 2' was also given to Raj Kumar Gupta. The direction of the film is good, but due to the weak story, 'Raid 2' does not live up to the expectations. By the way, you can watch this film with your entire family. From my side, the film gets 2.5 stars out of 5.
