Rajasthan’s Jaipur [India], Mumbai Indians (MI) pacer Deepak Chahar highlighted his joy at the team’s overall performance and how bowling becomes effortless with seasoned players like Trent Boult and Jasprit Bumrah after his team defeated the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Jaipur.

After defeating RR by 100 runs at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, which was also their sixth consecutive victory in the league, MI extended their scorching run and swept to the top of the table.

Chahar spoke what it’s like to bowl with Bumrah and Boult, a trio that has been dominating the powerplay lately, in the post-match news conference.

When you bowl with top-tier partners, it becomes effortless for you since they will support you with breakthroughs if you have a hard over. According to MI’s official website, he said, “It then becomes easy for me to come and bowl to the new batter.”

“The fact that these individuals have performed well in international cricket is beneficial to me. The opponent finds it challenging when you bowl together, Chahar said.

Chahar was also pleased with the equal contributions made by bowlers and hitters over the last eight to nine games.

“You may take a little more time to become comfortable if you are working as a team and you are confident. Thus, I believe it was the group effort that was shown,” he said.

He said, “I think it is good to be on top,” when his squad reached the top of the standings. You get an additional opportunity if you place in the top two. We also have the momentum. “As a team and as a player, you try to concentrate on one game at a time without considering the outcome,” he said.

Chahar said in closing that the squad is evaluating every game on its own merits and that their attention is already on the May 6 game against the Gujarat Titans (GT) at Wankhede.

When the game started, RR decided to field first and placed MI in the bowling position. Soon after, openers Rohit Sharma (53 in 36 balls, with nine fours) and Ryan Rickelton (61 in 38 balls, with seven fours and three sixes) unleashed an attack that lasted 116 runs, making the Men in Pink rue their choice. Following the dismissal of both openers, MI reached 217/2 in 20 overs thanks to a 94-run partnership between captain Hardik Pandya (48* in 23 balls, with six fours and a six) and Suryakumar Yadav (48* in 23 balls, with four boundaries and three sixes). Captain Riyan and Maheesh Theekshana both claimed a wicket.

Right from the powerplay, RR seemed powerless against a top-tier MI onslaught throughout the run-chase, falling to 47/5. Jofra Archer, who struck 30 runs in 27 balls with two fours and two sixes, was the highest scorer as RR lost by 100 runs after being bowled out for 117 in 16.1 overs.

The best bowlers for MI were Karn Sharma (3/23) and Boult (3/28), while Jasprit Bumrah also put in a demanding four-over session of 2/15. Hardik, the captain, also took a wicket.

The ‘Player of the Match’ title went to Rickelton.

With seven victories and four defeats, MI leads the standings with 14 points. With three wins, eight defeats, and six points, RR is in ninth place and out of the postseason picture.
