Indian batting legend Virat Kohli has revealed the most favourite song in his current playlist. The former Royal Challengers Bengaluru captain surprised his fans by revealing that he loves to listen to the popular Nee Singam Dhan song from the Tamil film Pathu Thala right now, calling it his favourite.
In an Instagram post shared by RCB, Kohli said that his fans would be shocked by his choice, but the Tamil song is on top of his playlist right now.
Composed by the legendary music director AR Rahman and sung by Sid Sriram, the song has found a place in the hearts of India and RCB superstar, who confirmed his current love affair with the song when asked by RCB about it.
“Most favourite right now? You will be shocked. Nee Singam Dhan,” said Kohli, before playing the song on his phone during the interaction.
Kohli’s choice would’ve come as a pleasant surprise to his fans down South of India, as he is a Delhi-based Punjabi boy, who has previously expressed his fondness for Hindi and Punjabi songs and said that he listens to them in his playlist inside the dressing room or while travelling with the team.
As Kohli revealed his liking for ‘Nee Singam Dhan‘, his fans wondered if he had been introduced to the song by RCB’s former middle-order batter and their current batting mentor, Dinesh Karthik, who hails from Chennai.
“Recommended by Dinesh Karthik,” a user said on Instagram, before another user got his imagination flying and said the song, which explores themes like identity, self-discovery and connection to nature, can be used for Chennai Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni.
The user said that Kohli will be listening to the song when he plays against Chennai and Dhoni enters to bat. ‘He will be listening to this while playing CSK match, that too Dhoni Entry,’ the user said.
Kohli has been in magnificent form in the ongoing edition of the IPL. The great right-hander is in the running for the ‘Orange Cap’, placed third in the list of highest run-getters after 443 runs in 10 innings at an average of 63.29 and a strike rate of 138.87.
Kohli will be eyeing another solid performance when RCB next take the field on Saturday, May 3, versus the Super Kings.
