is well known for his simple and effective ways to keep gardens looking gorgeous, offering advice that's usually easy to follow. With temperatures on the rise this week, many Brits will be enjoying their gardens, with vibrant flowers and healthy grass taking center stage.

The gardening expert has previously shared a clever trick for using nothing more than a garden fork. However, Amazon shoppers have discovered an innovative solution that makes lawn care even easier. Odd looking but very effective, the highly rated are available to buy on Amazon for £22.99.

For anyone thinking their grass is looking lacklustre, the BBC gardening guru recommends giving your lawn a bit of TLC each year through good old-fashioned aeration. This simple technique involves puncturing the lawn with small holes to improve air, water and nutrient flow to the grass roots, helping create a healthier, more resilient lawn.

While may look a little unsual, they make aerating the lawn simple and effective. By spiking the grass with each step, they offer a cost-effective alternative to the expensive of professional lawn services.

Designed with adjustable fasteners, these aerator shoes fit any foot size. Each shoe includes 13 heavy-duty 48mm metal spikes, a strong plastic base and anti-slip pads to ensure safe use even on wet grass.

If the aerator shoes seem like a step too far, Amazon also sells the Priced at £39.99, the garden tool can be rolled across marginally-compacted grass allowing the user to aerate the lawn without bending down.

Alternatively, B&Q is selling a for £29.99. With three interchangeable heads it can also be used as a lawn edger to keep lawns neat and tidy.

Buyers who have already purchased the aerator shoes have given them a rating. One customer said: "I was skeptical at first, but these exceeded all my expectations! The quality is top-notch! The sturdy plastic base with excellent heel support makes walking around with these aerators comfortable. The 13 metal spikes per sandal penetrate the soil effortlessly, ensuring that air, water, and nutrients reach deep into the grass roots."

Another added: "Fantastic. I was apprehensive as t."

A third encouraged fellow buyers to "not waste money buyung a grass aerator that requires pushing," adding: "these ! So easy to spike your grass & I've seen quite a difference in roughly a week. Just strap them on over your shoes & walk over grass. Easy!"

Sadly, not everyone was quite so impressed with the spikey sandals. One disappointed shopper left a three-star review that said: "I'm giving these what I consider to be an average star rating. They are very stiff and hard to walk in safely. It was slow going, but I was able to aerate the entire lawn. First time I ever did that so as far as I know they did the job."

Overall though, the quirky garden tool seems to be a success with Amazon customers. Another five-star review summed it up, saying: "I have spent the last 30 years of my life as a turf professional and understand well the importance of aeration...I'm pleased with these and declare them very good value."
