Rajinikanth recently watched 'Retro' and praised the film. Karthik Subbaraj shared Rajinikanth's words on Twitter and wrote, "Thalaivar watched 'Retro' and liked it very much. His words were - 'Great effort by the entire team... Surya's performance is superb... The last 40 minutes are amazing... The tadka of laughter is superb...' I am flying with happiness... The film performed well in Tamil Nadu

'Retro' has performed well at the box office in Tamil Nadu. The film has so far collected around Rs 37 crore. The film has received a good response in cities like Chennai, Coimbatore and Madurai in Tamil Nadu, where more than 80% occupancy has been recorded in theaters.

Surya was seen in this film before Retro

Earlier, Surya was seen in the film 'Kanguva'. This film proved to be a huge flop at the box office. However, fans are liking Surya's gangster look in this film. Pooja Hegde is also with him in the film.
