Shubman Gill, often referred as the 'Prince' of cricket, performed fantastically in the year 2023 for Gujarat Titans.

He appeared in 17 matches and scored 890 runs, with the top score being 129. He scored three centuries and four half-centuries in that season. He contributed to the qualification of GT to the playoffs and was highly consistent.

 

Jos Buttler performed superbly in the year 2022 when he played for Rajasthan Royals (RR). The Englishmen also played 17 matches in which he scored 863 runs. He hammered four centuries and four half-centuries. Rajasthan Royals made it to the final in that season and Buttler's batting was one of the main reasons behind it.

 

David Warner, the skipper of Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2016, also had a superb season. He amassed 848 runs in 17 matches with an average of over 60, and he smashed nine half-centuries in that season and his batting was a key factor behind SRH's title win in 2016.

And then comes the most thrilling moment. There was one player whose season no one has been able to replicate so far. He played for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the year 2016.

 

He appeared in 16 matches during that season and accumulated a staggering 973 runs! Yes, correct - 973 runs in one season alone! He had a strike rate of 152.03 and an average of 81.08. He mustered four centuries and seven half-centuries to accumulate these runs.

 

Though RCB didn't win the IPL title that season, his batting was the main cause behind their reaching the final.

 

Who is the record holder?

His 973 runs in IPL 2016 remains the highest number of runs scored by any player in a single season of Indian Premier League (IPL).
