The entertainment business in India has changed, just like any other. The business has changed as a result of new talent entering the market, more compelling narratives being told, and more significant positions for women. Patralekhaa really concurs.
According to Patralekhaa, the entertainment sector, which was formerly a male-dominated area, has seen a discernible transition over time. She stated, “Such good parts are being written for women” in a Zoom interview. Simply put, you’re not standing apostolically behind the hero. I believe that women are gaining greater positions as a result of the influx of platforms and the abundance of material being produced.
This comment follows the debut of her movie Phule, in which she co-stars with Pratik Gandhi, in theaters last month. In the movie, Patralekhaa plays Savitribai Phule, a social reformer who was instrumental in questioning gender and caste conventions in 19th-century India.
The 35-year-old actress then elaborated on the shifting industry scene by recalling her most recent movie, Phule, and emphasizing that “Pratik and I had equal parts in the film.”
The status of women in society is gradually improving, she said. According to Patralekhaa, modern women are more self-assured and outspoken, making sure that if something is considered appropriate for their male peers, it is also appropriate for them.
In response to a question on whether she believes she has been given her fair share in the business, Patralekhaa told the portal, “I’ll never be able to tell if I got my due or not. However, just getting a movie like Phule is a huge accomplishment. I don’t regret anything. The job that comes my way, no matter how minor, makes me very pleased. All I want is to collaborate with talented filmmakers and writers.
After a number of revisions and obstacles from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), Phule was ultimately released to the public on April 25, 2025.
Patralekhaa made her acting debut in the highly regarded 2014 movie CityLights, and many people praised her performance. She costarred with Rajkummar Rao, who is now her husband. She made her first foray into the over-the-top (OTT) market in 2017 with Bose: Dead/Alive. She starred in Anubhav Sinha’s online series IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack prior to Phule.
