The mastermind behind the Paris heist has been “forgiven” by Kim Kardashian. As she appeared in court on Tuesday, the 44-year-old reality star, who was detained in her French hotel room in 2016 and had $10 million worth of jewelry stolen from her, insisted that she “appreciated” that he had written her a letter of apology soon after his arrest, even though she was unaware of it at the time. She also asserted that the entire “traumatic” experience had altered her life.
“I am obviously emotional about it—this experience changed my life and my family’s life,” she said in court. I advocate for individuals to seek justice and work in the justice system back home in the United States. I want to be a lawyer. I certainly appreciate the letter. I forgive you, and I do appreciate it. However, it doesn’t alter the pain, emotions, or the way my life has altered.
Around the time a brief trial break was called, the defendant handed her a message shortly after she had apologized. It said, “Your forgiveness has illuminated me like a ray of sunlight. I will always be appreciative.
During the theft, Khedhache, who is deaf and dumb, is accused of being one of the two guys who pointed a pistol at Kardashian’s face.
In the letter, which Judge David De Pas read aloud to the court, Khedache said that he wanted Kardashian to know how much he “regrets” what he did, rather than seeking “forgiveness.”
“Madame, I decided to write to you after seeing you in a French TV show, observing your emotions, and realizing the psychological harm I caused you,” he added. Not in an attempt to gain forgiveness… I want to express to you directly how sorry I am for what I did and how moved I was to watch you weep. I apologize for the suffering I inflicted on you, your spouse, your kids, and your loved ones. Although you can’t change the past, I hope this letter will help you get beyond the pain I caused you.
Kardashian also said that she “absolutely did think [she] was going to die” before one of the burglars pulled her up and threw her onto the floor of her bathroom, where her lips were taped shut.
She stated, “I waited for a few minutes, not knowing if they would get something and return, but I didn’t hear anything after a few minutes.” After successfully removing the … tape, I went downstairs and located Simone, her stylist.
During the theft, the “Kourtneys” actress was with her elder sister and “prayed” for her family because she was afraid her sister would be shot to death. “I was certain that’s when they were going to shoot me,” she stated. I thus prayed for my mother, sister, closest friend, and whole family. After that, I hoped their lives would be well. [Kourtney] would see me being shot dead on the bed and carry that memory with her forever.”
Yunice Abbas, a co-defendant, told the court that it “wasn’t fair” for him to write the book “I Held Up Kim Kardashian.” She stated: “honestly was really shocked when I saw there was a book.”
In addition to doing this, he is now profiting from my jewelry, my memories, and the watch my late father got me for graduating high school. I cannot regain it. It was more than just jewelry—someone stole my memories, and now he’s making money off of it by producing a book? I didn’t think it was fair.
The founder of SKIMS has resorted to therapy as a coping mechanism in the aftermath of the heist. “I have had to change my life,” she remarked. I would start sobbing if I shouted out to someone going up the stairs and they didn’t respond because it brought up memories of that moment. Apart from that, I simply try to be tough and protective, and I have a lot of security surrounding my home. Even though it may seem excessive or absurd to others, I’m OK with it since I need it to feel comfortable and sleep.”
