The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has officially announced a revised date for the CBT-2 (Computer-Based Test-2) examination for Junior Engineer and other posts. According to the latest notification, candidates who appeared in Shift-2 of the CBT-2 exam on April 22, 2025, will now have to reappear for the test on a newly scheduled date: June 4, 2025.

This change is applicable only to Shift-2 candidates whose exams were conducted in select RRB regions but later canceled due to unforeseen circumstances.

Who Is Eligible for the Rescheduled CBT-2?

As per the RRB’s updated notice, this revised exam date applies exclusively to candidates who took part in Shift-2 of the April 22, 2025, CBT-2 exam. Initially, this shift was conducted across 12 RRB regions, including:

  • Ajmer

  • Bhopal

  • Bhubaneswar

  • Chandigarh

  • Gorakhpur

  • Guwahati

  • Bilaspur

  • Muzaffarpur

  • Patna

  • Prayagraj

  • Chennai

  • Siliguri

However, due to technical or administrative reasons, the Shift-2 exam was subsequently canceled in these regions. The RRB has now given affected candidates a second chance to appear for the test.

Mandatory Aadhaar-Based Biometric Verification

RRB has made it clear that Aadhaar-based biometric verification will be mandatory for all candidates appearing for the rescheduled exam. This verification process will be carried out at the exam center before entry is granted.

Important instructions for candidates:

  • Bring your original Aadhaar card or a digitally verified Aadhaar printout.

  • Ensure that your Aadhaar is unlocked to allow successful biometric authentication.

  • Failure to comply with these requirements may result in disqualification or denial of entry.

This step has been implemented to enhance transparency and eliminate any chances of impersonation or identity fraud.

City Intimation Slip and Admit Card Release Dates

As per the official update, candidates can expect the City Intimation Slip to be released approximately 10 days before the exam, i.e., by the last week of May 2025. This slip will inform candidates about their exam city and center.

The Admit Card or Hall Ticket will be made available 4 days prior to the exam date, around May 31, 2025. Both documents will be uploaded on the official RRB regional websites, and candidates are advised to download them as soon as they are released.

  • Look for the link titled ‘CBT-2 City Intimation Slip’ or ‘Admit Card Download’.

  • Enter your registration number and date of birth.

    • Regularly visit their respective RRB websites for real-time updates.

    • Keep all required documents ready, including Aadhaar, admit card, and a valid photo ID.

    • Ensure that all details in their application and Aadhaar card are correct and match exactly.
