Manipal: A state-of-the-art body plethysmograph device was inaugurated at Kasturba Medical College and Hospital, Manipal, by former KMC Dean Dr. Padmaraj Hegde and Chief Operating Officer of Teaching Hospitals Dr. Anand Venugopal.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Hegde highlighted the clinical relevance of modern diagnostic tools in medicine. He said the body plethysmograph plays a crucial role in the diagnosis and follow-up of chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases, asthma, and interstitial lung diseases. The device offers comprehensive respiratory analysis and is beneficial for both outpatient and inpatient care. It also serves as a vital tool in clinical research and trials, he added.

Dr. Manu Mohan K, Head of the Department of Pulmonary Medicine, explained the usefulness of the device in assessing lung function before surgery and in patients undergoing thoracic surgery.

Also present at the event were Dr. Avinash Shetty, Medical Superintendent of KMC; Anand Kumar, Regional Sales Manager of Schiller Healthcare India Pvt. Ltd.; and senior physicians from the department.
