On Saturday, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar officially opened the state’s first smart subway and multi-modal transportation hub close to Patna Junction, marking a significant advancement in urban mobility.

Decongestion of the severely congested region between GPO Golambar and Patna Junction Golambar, especially during peak hours, is the goal of the ambitious project.

It is anticipated that the facility would provide organized parking and expedited access to public transportation, including spots specifically dedicated for taxis, buses, cars, and e-rickshaws.

“The fact that something has been finished makes me very happy. “We’ve been keeping an eye on its development, and it’s really satisfying to see it ready today,” CM Nitish said during the inauguration.

Additionally, he instructed the Patna District Magistrate to provide a thorough tour of the facility to media reporters.

The facility was officially opened today, but it will be accessible to the public starting on May 18.

In the past, travelers and everyday commuters experienced severe inconvenience due to the absence of a designated transit zone at Patna Junction, especially since there were no official parking spaces and unplanned public transportation stops.

Smart subway access, bus, car, and e-rickshaw parking spaces, auto/e-rickshaw/cab management zones, and interaction with Buddha Smriti Parking and Tata Parking are some of the ways the new hub tackles these problems.

Aparajit Lohan, the Traffic SP, reports that a new traffic strategy has been implemented for the hub. To prevent bottlenecks and guarantee efficient traffic movement at and around the intersection, it incorporates stringent traffic regulations and well-defined vehicle routes.

The energy-efficient design of the multi-model parking lot next to Patna Junction includes a rooftop solar power system to provide the facility’s electrical needs.

Four travel routes of different lengths—18, 30, 45, and 55 meters—will be included in the parking space, which is 440 meters from Patna Junction, to make it easier for people to move between the parking and important areas.

For convenience, the facility will also include two subterranean box area elevators and two escalators.
