Yamal and his family visited Barcelona’s headquarters on Tuesday to finalize the deal, which had been agreed upon in advance. The La Liga champions later confirmed the six-year extension, keeping the star forward at the club until he turns 23. The contract has a €1 billion ($1.1 billion) release clause.

According to Leg sportsSYamal will earn $17 million per season before tax, with performance- bonuses that can raise his annual salary to $23 million. This makes him the third-highest earner at the club, trailing only Robert Lewandowski ($29 million) and Frenkie de Jong ($22 million).

Yamal, who will turn 18 on July 13, has built an impressive profile, including two La Liga titles, a Euro and other accolades. He is considered a strong contender to become the youngest Ballon d’Or winner in history, aiming to break Ronaldo Nazario’s record set at age 21.

Barcelona reportedly did not respond to a $230 million offer from PSG for Yamal, according to Mark. The club view him as the future of the team, and president Joan Laporta is prepared to make a significant salary boost to keep him. Still, the club have ensured that his salary does not exceed that of veteran striker Lewandowski.

Yamal has consistently impressed throughout the season. According to WhoScoredhe holds the highest rating across Europe’s top five leagues, with an average score of 8.01 (no other player surpasses 7.80). His dribbling, chance making and clutch goals have drawn widespread praise, including from legendary coach Zinedine Zidane, who called Yamal’s Champions League semifinal performances against Inter “unprecedented.”
