Fans reacted to X as keeper-batsman Ishan Kishan was left out of the Indian squad for the two Test matches against England. The Rohit Sharma-led side will host the Three Lions in five matches from January 25. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the Indian squad for the first two Tests against England on Friday (January 12). A notable omission from the squad was young dynamic Ishan Kishan. In this place, BCCI has called up keeper-batter Dhruv Jurrell for the first time and retained KS Bharath in the squad along with KL Rahul as the keeper. For the past few weeks, there have been many discussions and rumors about Ishaan Kishan.
Ishan Kishan withdrew from the Test series against South Africa due to mental fatigue and also did not participate in the T20I series against Afghanistan. There were reports suggesting that the BCCI dropped Kishan from the team for disciplinary reasons. Reports said that Ishaan Kishan was spotted partying in Dubai and also appeared on a TV quiz citing mental exhaustion. This did not go down well with the BCCI as they dropped him from the team and reportedly found that he could also hamper future selections.
But head coach Rahul Dravid recently confirmed that there was no disciplinary action and Ishan Kishan was not selected for the Afghanistan T20I as he did not make himself available. But with the keeper-batsman not included in the squad for England's Tests, it has fueled some rumours.
Here is the Indian squad for the first two Tests against England:
Rohit Sharma (c), S Gill, Y Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, S Iyer, KL Rahul (in wicket), KS Bharat (in wicket), Dhruv Jurel (in wicket), R Ashwin, R Jadeja, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohd. Siraj, Mukesh Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah (VC), Avesh Khan.
