Ashmit Patel opens up about his tumultuous relationship with sister Ameesha Patel: 'I believe that blood is always thicker than water'
Siblings Ashmit Patel and Ameesha Patel have often made headlines for their tumultuous relationship . However, Ashmit recently revealed that there is no tension betweem him and Ameesha despite their past rifts.
When asked if he congratulated Ameesha on the success of Gadar 2, Ashmit told Bollywood Bubble, "Of course I did." He then acknowledged their bond and said, "I believe that blood is always thicker than water. And the kind of business the movie did was just unbelievable. Looking at the response, my parents and I were euphoric."
However, Ashmit mentioned that he has always preferred keeping his personal life private. He does not like to put his family or relationships under the spotlight as he does not think it needs unnecessary attention.
For a considerable period, the siblings were estranged, with Ameesha even accusing their father Amit Patel of mishandling her hard-earned money. Despite this rift, Ashmit and Ameesha eventually reconciled. However, in 2017, tensions resurfaced, leading to another falling out between the siblings.
"She’s my sister and I love her to death and I’d be there for her no matter what, through all the thick and thin. I’ve always been there for her, she can count on me and hopefully I can also count on her for anything, anywhere and anytime," Ashmit expressed emotionally in an earlier interview with Hindustan Times.
In his previous conversation with Free Press Journal, Ashmit reflected on his bumpy journey in the entertainment industry, stating that he has always been someone who has liked to do things on his own, which is why he never wanted to his sister as a crutch to climb the ladder of success.
Now, following a brief self-imposed hiatus, two of Ashmit's projects, State v/s Ahuja and Scammy Boys, have been released back-to-back. In both projects, Ashmit plays the lead role, driving the storyline with his impactful performance. In State v/s Ahuja, Ashmit portrays the character of Ansh Ahuja, a Bollywood actor who is accused of rape. On the other hand, in Scammy Boys, he takes on the role of a police officer.
