To commemorate Satya’s re-release, the film’s creators hosted a special screening earlier this week. Manoj Bajpayee, Urmila Matondkar, J. D. Chakravarthy, Paresh Rawal, and Saurabh Shukla were among the cast members of the Ram Gopal Varma-directed movie. In a recent interview, Urmila remembered how she was reprimanded by famous designer Manish Malhotra for a comment she made about her appearance in the press.
When Urmila Matondkar was shouted at by Manish Malhotra
“I have to mention another maverick who worked on the movie, who I got firing from, which is Manish Malhotra,” Urmila Matondkar said in an interview with Radio Nasha. We were spending a lot of money on these inexpensive sarees after Rangeela. When someone ever questioned me about my appearance during an interview, I said, “Yaar, why are you all so obsessed with my pout and image?” I’m dressed in 500-rupee sarees.
Regarding Satya by Urmila Matondkar
The 1998 film “Satya” tells the tale of Bombay at a period of high crime. In the movie, Manoj played the part of Bhiku Mhatre. The movie became a cult classic after winning several accolades. Manoj became a national celebrity after Satya’s popularity, and he won the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actor. ‘Goli Maar’ and ‘Sapne Mein’ were two of the film’s outstanding songs, in addition to its narrative.
Urmila Matondkar’s front in acting
As a young artist, Urmila Matondkar made her debut in the motion picture business. She made her debut in Shekhar Kapur’s “Masoom,” the Marathi film “Zaakol,” and BR Chopra’s “Karm.” As an adult, Matondkar made her acting debut in 1989 in the Malayalam hit “Chanakyan,” costarring with Kamal Haasan, and began her Bollywood career in 1991 with the action film “Narsimha,” directed by N Chandra.
However, it was Ram Gopal Verma’s romantic drama ‘Rangeela’ (1995) that brought Matondkar national recognition.
