If treatment is given within an hour of the heart attack, many lives can be saved. Currently, 45 percent of patients die at home before reaching the hospital. Only 10.8 percent of patients are able to reach a hospital equipped with facilities for the treatment of heart disease.

He said that after 25 years of age, blood pressure, sugar and cholesterol should be checked once a year for heart screening. People with pre-hypertension should get their blood pressure checked regularly. Green vegetables and fruits should be consumed in large amounts.
