The clouds of crisis were deepened on the existence of the state bird Godavan (Great Indian Bustard) of Rajasthan. In such a situation, with the efforts of the state government, a good news has come out from the Sudasari Godavan Breeding Center in Jaisalmer about Godavan, where children were born from artificial insensification (artificial insemination) under the supervision of scientists. After this, India has become the first country in the world to produce children of Godavan due to artificial insemination.

Significantly, 6 months ago, a Godavan was born by adopting the same process. Now through AI technology, this rare species which is going to be extinct by getting the birth of Godavan from artificial insemination will be saved.

Godavan Breeding Center 52 Number

According to the information, after artificial insemination on 16 March, the 8th Great Indian Bustard Chuja of the season came out of the egg given by the female Tony at the Protection Breeding Center of Rajasthan, which identifies the second artificial insemination success for the project GIB. Now their number in Godavan Breeding Center has increased to 52, which is a pleasant sign of the efforts being made.

Idea came from Abu Dhabi

DFO said that this kind of test was conducted on the Tilor Birds in the International Fund for Hubara Conservation Foundation, Abu Dhabi (IFHC) and it was successful. Scientists from India's Wildlife Institute of India (WII) also went there and learned this technique. After this, such test efforts were started on Godavan.

Training to Male Godavan for 8 months

Earlier, a male Godavan named Suda, located at Ramdevra Godavan Breeding Center for Godavan, was trained for artificial mating. His sperm was collected. Sperm was brought to the Breeding Center in Sudasari and artificial insemination was done on 20 September 2024 from a female Godavan named Tony. After which a Godavan was born. Now on Friday, there is a wave of happiness due to the birth of another Godavan by this method.
