New Delhi: The Supreme Court Justice Bhushan Gawai will be sworn in as the Chief Justice of India (CJI) on May 14. President Draupadi Murmu will sworn him in the Rashtrapati Bhavan. Gawai will serve as the 54th Chief Justice of India and his tenure will end on November 23, 2025. He will replace Sanjeev Khanna, who retired from the post of Chief Justice.
Gawai will be the third members of the Nagpur Bar Association after justices Mohammed Hidyatul and Sharad Arvind Bobde, who will have the opportunity to serve as the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. Justice Gawai is originally from Amravati. He is the son of former governor and RPI leaders RS Gawai and Kamalatai Gawai.
Degree of law from Mumbai
After receiving the initial education from Amravati, Gawai obtained a law degree from Mumbai. For some time he advocated in Mumbai and Amravati. Around 1990, he retired in Nagpur, Advocate King. S. Worked under the guidance of Bhosale. He then became a judge in the Nagpur bench of the Bombay High Court and later promoted him and was given the responsibility of the judge in the Supreme Court.
