How much the bill will increase by running any air conditioner depends on its electricity consumption.

If you want to apply a 1.5 tonne split AC with a 5 star rating, it consumes about 840 watts per hour (0.8kwh).

If you use AC for about 8 hours per day, your AC consumes 6.4 units of electricity a day.

If you have electricity rate of Rs 7.50 per unit, then the bill will come to Rs 48 per day and about Rs 1500 per month.

On the other hand, a 1.5 -ton AC with a 3 -star rating consumes 1104 watts (1.10 kwh) in an hour.

If you run it for 8 hours, it will consume 9 units of electricity a day.

This will result in a bill of Rs 67.5 per day and Rs 2,000 per month.

Before purchasing AC, you should also keep your budget and its energy rating in mind.

It is necessary to get AC serviced from time to time, otherwise the AC compressor will have more load and it can also be spoiled. In addition, AC bills with old or un -service will also be higher.
