New Delhi : There is a danger of trade war all over the world. The new trade agreement in the middle of this trade war has entered the Indian saffron pomegranate in the American market. About 4,200 boxes have reached New York via pomegranate sea route. This agreement has led to an increase in the data of pomegranate exports. It is expected that by 2030, between India and America, it can also be easy to reach the trade to $ 500 billion.
Earlier, it was not easy to export Indian pomegranate in America. Due to strict rules and long distances, farmers had to face heavy troubles. However, in the year 2023, India and the United States performed a special contract, under which Indian pomegranate began to be sent by sea to America. Maharashtra, which is India's largest pomegranate produced state, is taking the most advantage of this agreement.
In February 2024 from New Delhi, a consignment of 4,200 boxes or 12.6 tonnes of fruit was flagged off from New Delhi. After which this consignment has now reached New York. APEDA took several beneficial steps to help the farmers. He also trained farmers to pack pomegranate properly and keep fresh. Apart from this, APEDA President Abhishek Dev said that Indian mangoes have already reached an annual export of about 3,500 tonnes and we hope that pomegranate will reach a similar number in the coming years.
There is talk of further strengthening the bilateral trade agreement with the US from India. Its result is that Indian pomegranate is reaching America markets by sea route. Pomegranate exports have led to an increase in the year 2025. Its exports increased from 21 percent to $ 59.76 million annually. The pomegranate of India also goes to countries like Netherlands, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, UAE, Bangladesh, Nepal, Thailand, Bahrain, Oman.
