Sagar (Madhya Pradesh): The death certificate of a person who is still alive has created a buzz in the municipal corporation office in Sagar.
More interesting fact is that two women with the same name– one is the wife of the deceased and the other is his sister – initially confused the officials of Nagar Nigam.
The woman who identified herself as wife sought the death certificate. The other woman, the deceased’s sister, sought an inquiry into the case.
The commissioner of the municipal corporation, Rajkumar Khatri, has cancelled a forged death certificate and asked the police to register an FIR against the woman who had applied for the death certificate.
The certificate was made on fictitious grounds, as the person concerned did not die. The police have begun to probe the case.
The police will register an FIR against the person concerned after the probe. Sanitary officer and registrar of births and deaths registration department Rajesh Singh Rajput said a woman, Deepa Chadhar, submitted an application to the office on December 5, 2023.

The department of births and deaths of Nagar Nigam registered the application and issued the death certificate on December 7, 2023. The death certificate was made on forged documents.
After the death certificate was issued, another woman who also identified herself as Deepa Chadhar and sister of Kapil, filed a complaint on the CM Helpline, seeking an inquiry into the case. Khatri examined the complaint and set up an inquiry committee.
During the inquiry it came to light that Deepa Chadhar, who sought death certificate, identified herself as Kapil’s wife. Similarly, another woman Deepa Chadhrar, who lodged a complaint on the CM Helpline, is Kapil’s sister.
It also came to light that although Kapil was alive, an effort was made to declare him dead. Khatri cancelled the death certificate on November 22 last year and asked the police to probe the case.
