New Delhi: Novak Djokovic registered his 100th match win at Wimbledon with a win past countryman Miomir Kecmanovic 6-3, 6-0, 6-4 on way to the fourth round for the 17th time.

The seven-time champion became only the second male player to earn 100 wins at the All England Club after record eight-time champ Roger Federer, who recorded 105 victories at Wimbledon.

The Serb was in total control against Kecmanovic as he dominated from the baseline and added a number of deft volleys to win in an hour and 47 minutes.

“I am very grateful, privileged to be in the position that I am,” Djokovic said after his 100th win.

“I have said it many times. Tennis made me who I am. It has given me things in life that I can experience. I try not to take anything for granted, particularly at this age. I’m still going strong, trying to compete with the young players and do some slides and some splits on the court.

“Wimbledon is a favourite tournament and dream tournament of not just myself but probably the majority of tennis players. Growing up most of the kids dream of playing here and winning here and I am blessed to have done it multiple times. Any history that I make at my favourite tournament, I am blessed.”

“It is never easy playing a friend,” Djokovic said of his opponent Kecmanovic.

“Miomir is a super nice guy. Someone that I have known for many years, faced each other on different surfaces. More than rivals and competitors, we are friends and teammates.”

Sinner maintains march with record

World No. 1 Jannik Sinner zoomed into the fourth round for a fourth consecutive year after beating Pedro Martinez 6-1, 6-3, 6-1.

The Italian has dropped only 17 games so far to equal the Open Era record of Jan Kodes in 1972 for fewest games dropped into the men’s singles fourth round.
The 23-year-old is also yet to drop his serve in his campaign, having won all 37 service games so far, saving all eight break points hat he has faced.

Meanwhile, 22-year-old Ben Shelton defeated lucky loser Marton Fucsovics 6-3, 7-6(4), 6-2, to become the youngest American since Andy Roddick in 2004 to advance to three major fourth-round appearances in a year.
