In a landmark announcement, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini revealed that talks are underway to bring India’s first Disneyland-style amusement park to Gurgaon. A 500-acre plot near Pachgaon Chowk in Manesar has been earmarked for the project, according to a report by The Times of India.
After meeting Union tourism minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat in Delhi, CM Saini shared that the amusement park will significantly uplift the region’s economy. “This Disneyland project will generate thousands of direct and indirect jobs and enhance tourism in Haryana. It will also attract international footfall,” he said.
Gurgaon has been chosen for its economic importance and strong infrastructure. The proposed site lies along the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) Expressway and is near the Haryana Orbital Rail Corridor, ensuring easy accessibility from across Delhi-NCR. The CM also linked this project to the upcoming Global City—an ambitious 1,000-acre smart city project in the area.
If finalized, this will be Disney’s first official amusement park in India. The initiative is expected to bring economic, cultural, and social advantages to the region. In addition to boosting tourism, it may inspire urban development and bring global attention to Haryana’s investment potential.
Apart from Disneyland, Saini spoke about expanding Haryana’s cultural calendar. He proposed holding the famed Surajkund Mela three times a year, including new editions like a Diwali fair and book fair. He also sought central support to scale up the International Gita Mahotsav held annually in Kurukshetra.
Interestingly, a similar Disneyland proposal was floated back in 1989 by then CM Om Prakash Chautala but was stalled due to political opposition. On Thursday, INLD leader Abhay Singh Chautala questioned the BJP’s U-turn, stating they opposed the idea back then but are now championing it.
While talks are still in early stages, the proposal signals Haryana’s push to become a global tourism and investment hub. If successful, Gurgaon may soon host India’s most iconic entertainment landmark.
