The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has signed a memorandum of understanding with Reliance Jio to introduce a telecom-based safety alert system across India's national highway network. Under this, Jio users travelling on highways will get advance warnings on their phones as they approach identified risk locations like accident-prone stretches, stray-cattle zones, fog-affected areas and emergency diversions, the ministry of road transport and highways said Tuesday.
