Jaipur: The incident that happened with a newly married couple in Sriganganagar district of Rajasthan shook the entire area. While it initially appeared to be a simple road accident, investigation revealed that it was a cold-blooded murder plot hatched by the wife. This is now being called ‘Honeymoon Murder of Rajasthan’, which reminds of an old case of Meghalaya.

On January 30, at around 9 pm, the police received information that a couple was lying unconscious on a deserted road in Rawla police station area. 25-year-old Ashish and his 23-year-old wife Anju were taken to the community health centre. Doctors declared Ashish dead, while Anju suffered minor injuries. Anju told that they had gone out for an evening walk when an unknown vehicle hit them. She also claimed that her gold jewelery was looted.

Police became suspicious

Police inspected the spot and called the forensic team. Many things were found suspicious during investigation. Marks of beating and strangulation were found on Ashish’s body, but Anju had no serious injuries. The medical report clearly indicated that it was not a hit-and-run but a deliberate attack. Anju’s phone records revealed that she was in constant touch with a man named Sanju, who was her ex-boyfriend.

Conspiracy from ex-boyfriend

Ashish and Anju got married three months ago, but Anju was not happy with this relationship. After marriage, she went to her maternal home in Sadulshahr, where she again came in contact with Sanju. Both of them together made a plan to remove Ashish from the way. Sanju was also joined by his two friends Rocky (Rohit) and Badal (Siddharth).

Anju gave earrings to stage robbery

Anju started taking Ashish to a deserted place every night on the pretext of a walk. On the night of 30 January, she took him to the same road where the three attackers were hiding. They brutally attacked Ashish, strangled and killed him. Anju gave her phone and earrings to the attackers so that they could stage a robbery. Later he pretended to be unconscious.

Repeated changes in Anju’s statements and contradictions about the incident deepened the police’s suspicion. The entire conspiracy came to light through technical investigation and call details. Police arrested all four accused including Anju, Sanju, Rocky and Badal.
