Vadodara: The final match of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 was held at the Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara, where Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) defeated Delhi Capitals (DC) by 6 wickets to capture the title. Under the captaincy of Smriti Mandhana, RCB registered this spectacular victory and captured the WPL trophy for the second time. Earlier, RCB had also won this title in 2024.
Delhi Capitals made it to the finals for the fourth consecutive time, but the title again slipped from their hands. In the previous years, Mumbai Indians had won the titles in 2023 and 2025. This disappointment was another one for Delhi as they failed to win the title.
Delhi Capitals won the toss and batted first and scored 203 runs at the loss of 4 wickets. Their captain Jemimah Rodrigues played an impressive inning of 57 runs in 37 balls, which included 8 fours. Additionally, Laura Wolvaardt scored 44 runs off 25 balls, and Lizelle Lee scored 37 runs off 30 balls. Chinelle Henry also scored a stormy 35 runs. In RCB’s bowling, Nadine Declercq, Sayali Satghare, and Arundhati Reddy took one wicket each.
While chasing the target of 204 runs, RCB’s start was not as expected, where the wicket of Grace Harris fell early. After this, Smriti Mandhana and Georgia Woll took over the innings. There was a historic partnership of 165 runs in 92 balls between these two, which became the biggest partnership for any wicket in the history of WPL. Georgia scored 79 runs in 54 balls. As soon as he was out, Richa Ghosh came to the crease and returned after scoring only 6 runs.
After this, Smriti Mandhana single-handedly took the innings forward. He led his team to victory by scoring 87 runs on 41 balls, which included 12 fours and 3 sixes. With this innings, RCB demonstrated its strength and quality by winning the title of WPL 2026. This match added another memorable moment in the history of women’s cricket.
