Fans of The Repair Shop are in for a treat as they can watch BBC expert Dominic Chinea transform a dilapidated stone farmhouse into his dream workspace in a brand new series.

The five-part programme will track Dom's journey as he embarks on a new life in Cornwall, accompanied by his wife Maria and their dog, Wendy.

A summary of Dom Chinea's Cornish Workshop states: "He carries out automotive, engineering and build work, as well as helping neighbours and his new community with their projects.

"Throughout the series, Dom enlists the aid of Sam Lovegrove (Shed and Buried) for general engineering assistance, plus a cast of charismatic, local tradespeople who collectively help Dom to achieve his ambitious plans."

When questioned about any challenges encountered during filming, he admitted that navigating Cornwall's roads was a significant issue, reports Cornwall Live.

He said: "Cornish lanes are so narrow and so tight - especially round here, I'm always forced to drive into the bush, scraping the side of my van on brambles and bushes.

"It brings me to tears almost every time. The lane is constantly getting potholes - I had to use a rock crusher to break down rubble to fill the holes - it was actually quite satisfying using that rare antique machinery."

In a sneak peek clip posted on U's Instagram account, viewers watched Dom meeting someone roadside to collect his newly purchased second-hand defender due to the narrow lanes.

Approaching the vehicle, which was loaded onto a large lorry, the star remarked: "There is absolutely no way this would get down that lane!"

Despite some rust and a damaged passenger seat, Dom was delighted with his acquisition as the well-loved car started up without a hitch.

When asked about what helped him adapt to life in Cornwall after relocating from Kent, he responded: "I made a new local friend - Sam Lovegrove, who's an engineering nutlike me. I wanted to get involved in local life and help make a difference.

"For instance, in the first episode, we tackled a tricky rockpool in Mousehole that locals use to swim safely - but it would regularly fill with algae and needed maintenance. In Pendeen,we fixed the ropes on some church bells at a local church.

Dom Chinea's Cornish Workshop will start on Monday 9 March on U and U Yesterday at 8pm.
