FASTag Annual Pass Price Hike: Traveling on the National Highway is going to be a little expensive from next month, especially from April 1. The Road Transport Ministry has decided to implement a 2.5% increase in the price of FASTag Annual Pass. Private vehicle owners will now have to pay ₹ 3,075 for FASTag Annual Pass, which was earlier ₹ 3,000. This pass allows car drivers to travel without stopping at 200 toll plazas across the country.
Price increase under annual review
According to Road Transport Ministry officials, when FASTag Annual Pass was first launched, its official notice included a special rule for annual review of prices and changes in them. This current increase is part of the same annual review process. The 2.5% increase implemented this time is based on the fixed formula used to decide changes in highway toll rates across the country.
Currently more than 52 lakh users
The government had launched this special FASTag Annual Pass on August 15. It has received a much better response than expected. So far, more than 52 lakh highway car users have adopted this scheme. The biggest feature of this pass is that it can be recharged any number of times within a year, which proves to be a very economical option for travelers traveling long distances.
Opportunity to buy at old rates till 31st March
If you frequently travel on the highway and want to avoid this price increase, you still have a chance to do so. Officials have said that users who will recharge their existing pass or buy a new pass by March 31. They will get it at the old rate i.e. Rs 3,000 only. The new rates will be updated in the system from the morning of April 1.
Facility available at 200 toll plazas
Currently this FASTag Annual Pass is valid at 200 big toll plazas across the country. This not only saves time, but also eliminates the hassle of paying toll tax again and again. The government aims to bring more toll plazas under the ambit of this pass in the future, so that the cashless economy can be promoted and travel can become even easier.
