Voice notes already saw a bump in usage after the platform introduced playback speed controls and transcript support in recent updates. AI Voice Effects adds another layer on top of that—one that leans into fun rather than utility.
How to use AI Voice Effects on Instagram DMsOpen any DM thread and tap the voice message record button. Then tap the Voice Effects button in the composer to browse the available options. Record your voice note as usual, then tap through the effects to preview how each one sounds. Once you're happy with a pick, send it—the recipient will see which effect was used and can tap it to reply in the same voice.



The feature is rolling out globally and is available on both iOS and Android.
