The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has been accused of racial discrimination. The person making the allegations is none other than former Indian cricketer Laxman Sivaramakrishnan. On Friday, Sivaramakrishnan announced his retirement from the BCCI's commentary panel. Sivaramakrishnan stated that he was denied the opportunity to announce the toss and perform presentations. He speculated that this may have been due to his color. Former cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin has also commented on the matter.
Laxman Sivaramakrishnan announced via social media that he is retiring from the BCCI commentary panel. He also accused the BCCI of not giving him the opportunity to do the toss or presentations in 23 years, and today, the new boys are doing the toss and pitch reports.
In fact, he didn't directly blame the BCCI in his statement. However, a commenter wrote on his post, saying it might be because of his color. Controversy erupted when the former cricketer agreed. He also admitted that the BCCI may have been racially biased by denying him opportunities like the toss presentation or pitch report.
Former cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin also reacted. He expressed regret that Laxman Sivaramakrishnan will not be commentating in the IPL this time. While some people supported Sivaramakrishnan in the comments section, others began trolling him.
Speaking of his career, Laxman Sivaramakrishnan was a leg-spin bowler. He represented the Indian team in nine Test matches, taking 26 wickets. He also took 15 wickets in 16 ODIs. He played for Team India from 1983 to 1987.
