On Monday, My posted a pair of Christian Louboutin ballet flats on her Instagram account dedicated to reselling pre-owned fashion items, asking VND2 million (about US$76). She said the price reflected a significant discount from the original VND20 million due to the shoes’ “worn-down” soles.

The post quickly sparked controversy and widespread discussion online. Many users argued that the condition of the shoes made them unsuitable for resale, or at the very least, should have been refurbished before listing.
“For VND2 million, I’d rather buy new mass-market shoes than worn designer ones,” one Instagram user commented.
Another wrote: “She should refurbish them first, it would fetch a better price and show respect for buyers.”
“They look okay from the outside, but the inside is too worn,” a third added.
However, some defended My, noting that the discounted price still represented a bargain for a pair of Christian Louboutins.
“The exterior looks fine, and you can replace the insoles and soles, it’s still cheaper than buying a regular-brand pair with real leather,” one user said.
“Spend another VND2 million fixing them, and it’s still a deal,” another added.
As of Wednesday, the Instagram post offering the shoes for sale has been removed.
In addition to the flats, My listed other designer items, including Chanel espadrilles and Hermès slides, which also generated debate due to their worn condition.

Responding to the mixed reactions, My said she was surprised by the attention her resale page received. She admitted she was too “lazy” to refurbish the items.
“I just wanted to clear my home, so I priced them to sell quickly,” she wrote in an Instagram story on Tuesday. “I clearly stated the condition and price from the beginning, and anyone who agreed could purchase them. I don’t send items in a different condition than described.”
She also thanked her followers for their interest, acknowledging that the experience had taught her a lesson.
My, 31, represented Vietnam at the Miss Grand International 2017 contest, placing in the top 10. She has worked as a model, TV host, and actress. Earlier this year, she stepped away from her role as a sports channel anchor, describing herself as “retired” from show business.
