Lucknow: In Uttar Pradesh, a big step has been taken towards connecting school education with new technology. The UP government under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has decided to create modern Dream Labs in 600 government secondary and higher secondary schools of the state. For this, an important agreement has been signed between Samagra Shiksha (Secondary), Secondary Education Department Uttar Pradesh and Nelco Limited (Tata Enterprises). This agreement was signed in the Directorate of Secondary Education located in Lucknow. On this occasion, Additional Chief Secretary Basic and Secondary Education Partha Sarathi Sen Sharma and Director General School Education Monica Rani were present.

Additional Chief Secretary Partha Sarathi Sen Sharma said that this is not just a project but an investment in the future of the youth of Uttar Pradesh. He said that in view of the needs of the rapidly changing industry, it has become very important to teach skills related to Industry 4.0 to the students. Dream Labs will provide children with general education as well as practical and employment related training.
Director General School Education Monica Rani said that this initiative is going to give a new direction to vocational education. He stressed on implementing the hub and spoke model properly, installing good machinery, maintaining the quality of trainers and regular participation of students. He said that as important as a strong start to any scheme is, its successful completion is equally important. Special emphasis was laid on effectively implementing this scheme in aspirational districts.
A total of 600 schools in all 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh have been covered under this scheme. Of these, there will be 150 hub schools and 450 spoke schools. In the first phase, Dream Labs will be built in 18 hub and 54 spoke schools i.e. a total of 72 schools. The second phase will include 36 hub and 108 spoke schools i.e. a total of 144 schools. In the third phase, labs will be set up in 96 hub and 288 spoke schools i.e. a total of 384 schools.
These Dream Labs will be developed as modern innovation and skill development centres. Here students from classes 9 to 12 will be given practical training in modern technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI), Robotics, Internet of Things (IoT), 3D Printing, Advanced Manufacturing, Battery Operated Electric Vehicles, Electronics, Agricultural Science, Renewable Energy, Drone Technology and Design Thinking.
This scheme has been prepared as per National Education Policy 2020, NSQF and Skill India Mission. Its objective is to develop innovative thinking, problem-solving abilities, technical understanding and entrepreneurial skills in students so that they can thrive in the future global economy.
The project, which will run on a five-year partnership model, will provide modern machines, digital platforms, software and maintenance facilities to the industrial group led by Nelco Limited. Besides, industry experts will provide training to students and teachers will also be trained in new technologies so that this model can become successful and self-reliant in the long run.
The event was attended by representatives from many global companies like Yaskawa, Mastercam, 3D Systems, AjnaLens and Ace Micromatic. He described this initiative as a strong link between education and industry. He says that Dream Labs will give real industry-like experience to the students and connect them with better employment and entrepreneurship opportunities.
The government believes that this project will play a big role in making Uttar Pradesh an efficient, self-reliant and innovation-based economy. In the coming time, the schools of the state will prepare new generation technical experts, innovators and entrepreneurs. Many senior officials including Additional Director (Vocational Education) Surendra Kumar Tiwari and Additional State Project Director Vishnukant Pandey were present in the program.
