27The debate is increasing regarding the portrayal of women in South Star Ram Charan’s film ‘Peddi’. Netizens on the internet criticized the film for objectifying Jhanvi Kapoor’s character. After this, many celebrities have also expressed their opinion on this issue. Now the film’s director Buchi Babu Sana has reacted. Along with this, many bold scenes of the film have been removed. Buchi Babu Sana, director of the film ‘Peddi’, said in an interview to Indian Express that people had misconceptions about some scenes of Jhanvi Kapoor in the film and he also said that many people had misunderstood Jhanvi Kapoor’s character Achiamma in this Ram Charan starrer film. The director said, ‘In my opinion, many people have misinterpreted Jhanvi Kapoor’s character as unnecessary in a good story.’
The director further said, ‘I worked a little differently in this film, because ‘Peddi’ comes from a remote area, far away from the hills. I wanted to show his reality and in the end, correct him and say that this boy is like this because of his upbringing and environment. For such a character, he thinks he has to marry his girlfriend.
The director also said that there were irregularities in filming at some places. He said, ‘In the process, some shots became confusing. We have taken corrective action and removed them.
Apart from Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor, the film Peddi stars Shiv Rajkumar, Jagapati Babu, Boman Irani and Upendra Limaye. Despite the controversy, this film is performing well at the box office around the world.
