Manchester United are reportedly exploring the possibility of signing Leeds United goalkeeper Karl Darlow, who is approaching free agency this summer.

According to a report by The Athletic, the Red Devils are ‘considering a move’ for the 35-year-old shot-stopper to strengthen their goalkeeping department with more experience and depth. Leeds, however, are planning to extend Darlow’s stay by offering him a new contract, while Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Sam Johnstone is also on Manchester United manager Michael Carrick’s radar.

Last summer, United brought in Belgian goalkeeper Senne Lammens for a fee of around £18 million, and he made a positive impression. However, the squad still lacks reliable backup options. Altay Bayindir, who joined in 2023 for approximately £4 million, has found it difficult to settle and is expected to leave at the end of the current season.

Darlow arrived at Leeds United in 2023 on a three-year deal and regained the No.1 position midway through the 2025/26 season. He featured in 22 Premier League games, initially stepping in for Lucas Perri during his autumn injury, and retained his spot from January onwards due to consistent performances.

As a homegrown player and the current first-choice goalkeeper for Wales under manager Craig Bellamy, Darlow is anticipated to draw interest from several clubs when he becomes available on a free transfer. Leeds manager Daniel Farke has lauded Darlow for his professionalism and displays, adding that discussions regarding his future will only take place once all contract matters are finalised.
