Disney+ has added the extended cut of one of Disney’s popular musical comedy movies featuring Golden Globe winner Tina Fey. Starting today, Fey’s Muppets Most Wanted: Unnecessarily Extended Edition is finally available to stream on Disney+.
The extended cut of the hit 2014 movie Muppets Most Wanted features an extra 12 minutes of footage, which includes longer song numbers and deleted scenes. In the film, Fey played a Russian prison guard named Nadya. During its theatrical run, it grossed over $80 million worldwide against a $50 million budget. It currently holds a Fresh score of 80% on Rotten Tomatoesbased on 201 reviews.
The ensemble cast also included Ricky Gervais as Dominic Badguy/The Lemur and Ty Burrell as Jean Pierre Napoleon, along with long-time Muppet performers Steve Whitmire, Eric Jacobson, Dave Goelz, Bill Barretta, David Rudman, Matt Vogel, and more. The film also featured many celebrity cameos, including Lady Gaga, Salma Hayek, Saoirse Ronan, Ray Liotta, Tom Hiddleston, Josh Groban, James McAvoy, Celine Dion, Zach Galifianakis, Chloë Grace Moretz, and Bridgit Mendler.
“Dominic Badguy, The Muppets’ new manager, convinces the gang to embark on a world tour. Kermit the Frog doubts that it’s a good idea – a feeling that’s proven right when look-alike Constantine escapes from prison, takes Kermit’s place, and lands Miss Piggy’s sweetie in a Siberian prison. While the frog tries to convince his captors of his true identity, Constantine and Dominic are free to carry out their plan to steal London’s crown jewels,” reads the official synopsis.
Muppets Most Wanted was directed by James Bobin, who co-wrote the screenplay with Nicholas Stoller. It was produced by David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman, with Stoller and John G. Scotti serving as executive producers. The creative team consisted of director of photography Don Burgess, composer Christophe Beck, editor James Thomas, production designer Eve Stewart, and costume designer Rahel Afiley.
