Now people above 18 years of age will not get new Aadhar card!

Taking a historic and big decision, the Assam government has announced a complete ban on issuing new Aadhaar cards for people above 18 years of age in the state. The Chief Minister has made it clear that this strict rule will be applicable only in the state of Assam. The government believes that the work of Aadhaar card is almost completed in the state, hence now illegal infiltrators can take advantage of it under the guise of issuing new cards for adults. The main objective of this step is to prevent illegal Bangladeshi infiltrators from obtaining Indian identity documents.

Chief Minister lashed out at laxity in border security, called it a ‘historic mistake’

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has expressed his deep displeasure over the delay in security and fencing work on the India-Bangladesh border. He said in strong words that such a huge delay in border security has been a “historic mistake”. He stressed that there is a dire need to strengthen border security more than ever to protect the security and demography of the state.

Instructions for regular check regarding citizenship and NRC

To root out the problem of infiltration, the Chief Minister has also given a big statement regarding the citizenship test. He has instructed the officials that regular and thorough checking of citizenship of people living in border and sensitive areas should be done. The government believes that through such routine checking, people living illegally can be easily identified and the process of National Register of Citizens (NRC) will also be given the right direction.

Maha survey started for street vendors in Guwahati

Apart from these major decisions, the Assam government has also started a special 2-month survey campaign for street vendors in Guwahati city. The main objective of this comprehensive survey is to collect accurate data about the exact number of street vendors working in the city, their actual condition and the everyday problems they face. On the basis of this data, the government will prepare new policies for their rehabilitation and welfare in future so that the urban system can be further improved.
